Remove
- Open all doors and lower all windows.
- Open the hood.
- Open the liftgate.
-
Enable the EPB Service Mode.
- Place the vehicle in Service Mode by using the touchscreen. See Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).
-
While holding the brake pedal, tap
the Service Mode "wrench" at the bottom of the touchscreen UI, and then tap
, select Both in the
EPB Selection
dropping list, and select Start in theAction Selection
dropping list. Click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
NoteTheEPB Selection
field can also be selected as Left/Right as needed. -
Set wheel chocks.
- Remove the LH 2nd row seat. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH and RH front seats. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
- Remove the LH trunk side trim assembly. See Trunk Side Trim - LH (Model Y L) (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH 3rd row B section duct. See Duct - B Section - 3rd Row - Upper - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).

Remove the center console assembly.
See Center Console (Model Y L) (Remove and Install).
NoteDuring removal, certain steps require extra care. See the animation(s) for detailed guidance.
- Remove the LH and RH front cabin carpets. See Cabin Carpet - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) and Cabin Carpet - Front - RH (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH B-pillar B section duct. See Duct - B Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
- Remove the LH B-pillar applique. See B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).

Disconnect the front main harness X909
connector.
-
Disconnect the J2, J4, and J5 body
connectors from the LH vehicle controller.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the
front main harness ground to the LH A-pillar.
TipUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm deep socket
-
Disconnect the headliner harness
connector.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
LH body harness to the LH A-pillar.
-
Release the clips (x3) and datum that
attach the LH body harness to the LH front sill.
-
Release the clips (x3) and guide pin
that attach the LH body harness under the front seats and center console.
-
Release the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the 3rd row head duct.
-
Disconnect the LH body harness
connector from the RCM.
-
Disconnect the LH body harness
connectors (x2) from below the RH front seat.
- Remove the LH B-pillar duct A section. See Duct - A Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
-
Release the clips (x6) that attach the
LH body harness to the lower B-pillar.
-
Release the clips (x3) that attach the
LH body harness to the upper B-pillar, and pull the harness into the cabin from the
applique area.
-
Lift the orange tabs to release and
disconnect the LH front retractor connectors (x2).
-
Pull the red tab to disengage the lock
on the LH B-pillar accelerometer sensor connector, then pull it again to release the
connector.
NoteDo not push down on the red tab.
-
Pry at both the top and bottom of the grommet to release the grommet connector, while
pulling it away from the B-pillar to remove the LH rear door harness.
-
Release the clips (x3) from the outer
B-pillar, then remove the LH rear door harness connector from the B-pillar area.
-
Remove the LH body harness from under
the front seats and center console.
NoteEnsure that the LH body harness is drawn out without resistance.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
body harness ground strap to the LH rear sill area.
TipUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Install an inflatable airbag to
support the LH rear cabin carpet.
-
Remove the clip that attaches the 2nd
row LH seat harness to the ancillary bay.
NoteMake sure to thread the harness of the 2nd row seats through the carpet.
-
Release the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the rear body area and move the harness aside.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
LH body harness to the rear body and move the harness aside.
-
Partially release the clips (x2) that
attach the LH rear quarter panel NVH to the body.
-
Lift the orange locking tabs (x2) to
release and disconnect the LH 2nd row retractor connector.
- Remove the LH C-pillar airbag ramp. See Ramp - Airbag - C-Pillar - LH (6-Seat) (Remove and Replace).

Disconnect the LH power strut
connector.
-
Lift the white locking tabs (x2) to
release and disconnect the LH curtain air bag connector.
-
Release the LH body harness clips
(x13) around the LH C-pillar area.
-
Disconnect the LH body harness
connectors (x2) from the charge port ECU.
-
Remove the bolt that attaches the LH
body harness ground strap to the LH trunk area.
TipUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:
- 10 mm socket
-
Disconnect the LH body harness
connectors (x3) from the chargeport assembly.
-
Release the clip that attaches the
harness to the chargeport assembly.
-
Remove wheel chocks, push the vehicle
onto the lift, and place wheel chocks once the vehicle is in the correct position.
NoteRecommend assistance. Push the vehicle a short distance at a very slow speed, close all doors as needed to fit between the lift, and latch rear doors to prevent accidental closure.
- Release the rear fascia diffuser. See Diffuser - Rear Fascia (Remove and Replace).

Release the yellow locking tab and
disconnect the LH rear EPB harness connector.
-
Release the clips (x2) that attach the
LH body harness to the LH RUB area.
- Lower the vehicle partially to comfortable working height.
-
Push the LH body harness through the
grommet in the LH wheelhouse outer assembly, and remove it from the vehicle.
Replace
-
Position the LH body harness onto the
vehicle, route it through the grommet and push it through the LH wheelhouse outer
assembly.
NoteMake sure that the grommet is installed in proper orientation.
- Raise the vehicle to comfortable working height.
-
Secure the clips (x2) that attach the
LH body harness to the LH RUB area.
-
Secure the yellow locking tab and
connect the LH rear EPB harness connector.
- Secure the rear fascia diffuser. See Diffuser - Rear Fascia (Remove and Replace).
-
Remove wheel chocks, push the vehicle
away from the lift, then place wheel chocks once the vehicle is in the correct
position.
NoteRecommend assistance. Push the vehicle a short distance at a very slow speed, close all doors as needed to fit between the lift.

Secure the clip that attaches the LH
body harness harness to the chargeport assembly.
-
Connect the LH body harness connectors
(x3) to the chargeport assembly.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the LH
body harness ground strap to the LH trunk area.

Connect the LH body harness connectors
(x2) to the charge port ECU.
-
Secure the LH body harness clips (x13)
around the LH C-pillar area.
-
Press the LH curtain air bag connector
into place until an audible click is heard.
-
Connect the LH power strut
connector.
- Install the LH C-pillar airbag ramp. See Ramp - Airbag - C-Pillar - LH (6-Seat) (Remove and Replace).

Connect the LH 2nd row retractor
connector into place until an audible click is heard.
-
Partially secure the clips (x2) that
attach the LH rear quarter panel NVH to the body.
-
Secure the clips (x2) that attach the
LH body harness to the rear body.
-
Secure the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the rear body.
-
Secure the clip that attaches the 2nd
row LH seat harness to the ancillary bay.
NoteMake sure to thread the harness of the 2nd row seats through the carpet.

Remove the inflatable airbag from the
LH rear cabin carpet.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the LH
body harness ground strap to the LH rear sill area.
10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)TipUse of the following tool(s) is recommended:- 10 mm socket

Install the LH body harness to under
the front seats and center console.
NoteEnsure that the LH body harness is arranged without resistance.

Secure the clips (x3) to install the
LH rear door harness connector to the B-pillar area.
-
Install the grommet connector and LH rear door harness to the B-pillar.
- Before installation, verify the seal is fully seated around the white clip.
- Press the LH rear door harness into the LH rear door harness connector; hold the harness connector in place until an audible click is heard.
- After installation, gently pull the harness connector to confirm it is secure and ensure the door harness grommet is properly seated to the B-pillar.

Connect the LH B-pillar accelerometer
sensor connector.
-
Connect the LH front retractor
connectors (x2) into place until an audible click is heard.
-
Feed the harness through the body
opening to the applique area, and secure the clips (x3) that attach the LH body harness
to the upper B-pillar.
-
Secure the clips (x6) that attach the
LH body harness to the lower B-pillar.
- Install the LH B-pillar duct A section. See Duct - A Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).

Connect the LH body harness connectors
(x2) to below the RH front seat.
-
Connect the LH body harness connector
to the RCM.
-
Secure the clip that attaches the LH
body harness to the 3rd row head duct.
-
Secure the clips (x3) and guide pin
that attach the LH body harness under the front seats and center console.
-
Align the location pin and secure the
clips (x3) that attach the LH body harness to the LH front sill.
-
Secure the clips (x3) that attach the
LH body harness to the LH A-pillar.
-
Connect the headliner harness
connector.
-
Install the bolt that attaches the
front main harness ground to the LH A-pillar.

Connect the J2, J4, and J5 body
connectors to the LH vehicle controller.

Connect the front main harness X909
connector.
- Install the LH B-pillar applique. See B-Pillar Applique - LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH B-pillar B section duct. See Duct - B Section - B-Pillar - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH and RH front cabin carpets. See Cabin Carpet - Front - LH (Remove and Replace) and Cabin Carpet - Front - RH (Remove and Replace).
- Install the center console assembly. See Center Console (Model Y L) (Remove and Install).
- Install the 3rd row B section duct. See Duct - B Section - 3rd Row - Upper - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH trunk side trim assembly. See Trunk Side Trim - LH (Model Y L) (Remove and Replace).
- Install the LH and RH front seats. See 1st Row Seat- LH (Remove and Install).
- Install the LH 2nd row seat. See Seat Assembly - 2nd Row - LH (Model YL) (Remove and Install).

Exit the EPB Service Mode.
- Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway (Unlock).

On the touchscreen, tap the Service Mode "wrench" at the bottom of the
touchscreen UI, and then tap , select Both in the
EPB Selection
dropping list, and select Stop in theAction Selection
dropping list. Click Run, and allow the routine to complete. - Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.

Remove wheel chocks
- Raise all windows and close all doors.
