Air Vent - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Replace)

Note
For vehicles that support the airwave Swing Mode feature, make sure to use following parts (or later supersessions) when replacing the air vent(s). If earlier parts are used, the calibration routine(s) TEST-SELF_VCRIGHT_L_HVAC-VANE-ACTUATOR and/or TEST-SELF_VCRIGHT_R_HVAC-VANE-ACTUATOR will fail.

Replace

  1. Install the driver air vent. See Air Vent - Instrument Panel - Driver (Remove and Install).
  2. Locally connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle. See Toolbox (Connect and Disconnect).
  3. In Toolbox, perform the following steps.
    1. Click the Actions tab, type "Actuator" into the search field, click TEST-SELF_VCRIGHT_X_HVAC-CASE-ACTUATORSvia Toolbox:(link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
    2. Click TEST-SELF_VCRIGHT_L_HVAC-VANE-ACTUATORvia Toolbox:(link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
      Note
      For the RH air vent, click TEST-SELF_VCRIGHT_R_HVAC-VANE-ACTUATORvia Toolbox:(link), click Run, and allow the routine to complete.
  4. Exit Service Mode. See Service Mode.
  5. Disconnect the laptop.
  6. Raise the LH front window and close the LH front door.
