Bracket - Front End Module (FEM) - LH (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. See .
  2. Disconnect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
  3. Remove the clips (x9) that partially securing LH wheel liner.
  4. Partially remove the LH front wheel liner.

    Note
    Slightly pull the wheel liner to the outside for access to the harness.
  5. Disengage the locking tab and disconnect the LH front wheel speed sensor connector.
  6. Remove the front fascia. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  7. Remove the front harness clips (x2) for the LH side wheel speed sensor.

    Note
    Move the LH wheel liner around for better access to remove the clips.
  8. Disconnect the LH front pedestrian protection pressure tube sensor connector.

    Note
    Do not push down on the red tab. Pull the red tab to disengage lock, and then pull it again to release the connector.
  9. Disengage the locking tab and disconnect the LH FEM harness connector.
  10. Remove the front harness clips (x3) from the outer LH rail area.
  11. Disconnect the front harness from the cooling fan module (1x connector).
  12. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH front acceleration sensor to the body.

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
  13. Remove the LH front acceleration sensor (1x clip).
  14. Route the LH side of the front harness from wheel liner to the frunk area.
  15. Route the LH side of the front harness toward the front controller area.
  16. Remove the bolt that attaches the LH upper section of the front end carrier to the body.

    • 13 mm socket
  17. Remove the bolts (x4) that attach the FEM bracket assembly to the vehicle, and then remove the FEM bracket from the vehicle.

    Note
    Slide the FEM bracket to the side for removal.

    There are three 10 mm bolts and one 13 mm bolt.

Install

  1. Install the bolts (x4) that attach the FEM bracket assembly to the vehicle.
    9.8 Nm (7.2 lbs-ft)
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

    Note
    The 10 mm bolts (x3) are 9.8 Nm and 13 mm bolt is 16 Nm.

    • 10 mm socket
    • 13 mm socket
  2. Fully install the bolt that attaches the LH upper section of the front end carrier to the body.
    16 Nm (11.8 lbs-ft)

  3. Route the LH front harness toward the LH front fascia area.

    Note
    Make sure the plastic housing is properly oriented with clips facing the frame rail. Feed the harness down behind the fascia.
  4. Route the LH front harness from the frunk to the LH wheel liner area.
  5. Position the LH front acceleration sensor to the vehicle for installation (1x clip).
  6. Install the bolt that attaches the LH front acceleration sensor to the body.
    10 Nm (7.4 lbs-ft)

    Use of the following tool(s) is recommended:
    • 10 mm 12-point deep socket
  7. Connect the front harness to the cooling fan module (1x connector).
  8. Secure the front harness clips (x3) to the outer LH rail area.
  9. Connect the LH FEM harness connector and engage the locking tab.
  10. Connect the LH front pedestrian protection pressure tube sensor connector and engage the locking tab.
  11. Install the front harness clips (x2) for the LH side wheel speed sensor.

    Note
    Move the LH wheel liner around for better access to install the clips.
  12. Install the front fascia. See Fascia - Front (Remove and Install).
  13. Partially remove the LH front wheel liner.

    Slightly pull the wheel linear to the outside for access to the harness.
  14. Connect the LH front wheel speed sensor connector and engage the locking tab.
  15. lnstall the clips (x9) that secure the LH wheel liner.
  16. Connect the LV battery power. See LV Power (Disconnect and Connect).
