Removal
-
Open all four doors
-
Lower all four windows
-
Fully open sunroof using UI
-
Remove bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
Note4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard patch bolts
-
Remove sliding glass from vehicle

Remove LH front floor mat
NoteRelease 4x velcro pads
-
Remove LH IP side cover
Note4x clips, 1x connector
-
Remove LH middle A-pillar trim
Note2x clips
-
Remove LH lower A-pillar trim
Note4x clips, Number of clips securing trim may vary depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

Remove LH lower IP trim
Note1x screw, T20, 2 Nm, 9x clips
-
Release LH front console side panel clips
Note7x clips
-
Remove LH console closeout extension
Note6x clips, May vary depending on build date
-
Remove LH footwell cover
Note2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector
-
Disconnect premium amplifier if equipped
Note1x connector, Applies only to vehicle equipped with premium audio

Remove OBD II connector from tuner bracket
Note2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm
-
Disconnect tuner and move harness for clearance
Note3x connectors, 1x edge clip
-
Remove bolts securing tuner bracket to IP
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm, 2 are accessible from bottom, 1 is accessible from front

Remove amp/tuner bracket assembly out through bottom of IP carrier
Note1x tab, There's a tab on bracket that requires sliding assembly forward slightly to release

Apply masking tape onto roof rail
NoteApply masking tape onto roof rail to prevent paint damage from working on vehicle roof

Remove LH side applique roof rack doors
Note2x roof rack doors, Careful not to break roof rack doors upon removal
-
Remove LH side applique
NoteUsing hydro blade tool and glass cleaner for lubrication cut through urethane to free 1.0 side applique, Ensure to clear seals and cut through urethane, Careful NOT to damage paint on roof rail as you cut

Remove bolts securing LH roof motor
Note3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard after removal

Separate LH sunroof motor from motor block
NoteUse plastic trim tool as needed
-
Disconnect LH roof motor connector
Note1x connector
-
Remove LH rear cam block
Note2x screws. T25, 5 Nm
-
Slide pano roof rear LH link forward to cam block opening
NoteUse a long bit to help move link
-
Lift up rear LH link and remove guide shoe
-
Slide pano roof rear LH link back past frame channel
-
Remove LH rear stop screw
Note1x screw, T20, 6.5 Nm
-
Remove LH rear link
NotePull link rearward, You may need to use a bigger hook and pull more aggressively
-
Remove LH panoramic roof drive cable
NoteCable may get stuck where stop screw was installed, Apply good amount of force to remove
-
Remove old urethane from body
NoteEnsure residual urethane is 1 mm or less in thickness
-
Vacuum debris from body and headliner
NoteClean up roof area of vehicle to prepare for installation of new rear fixed glass
Installation
Examine all grease on the cable for contamination such as dirt, sand, or debris. If any contamination is present, remove all grease and apply new grease.

Install LH panoramic roof drive cable
NoteLeave enough slack to install link
-
Insert rear LH link into drive cable
NoteBoth rear link and drive cable should fix like a puzzle, Careful not to damage fixed glass or side rail, Apply lubrication to ease installation

Gently tap on rear LH link to move assembly into frame channels
-
Slide pano roof rear LH link forward to cam block opening
NoteUse a long bit to help move link
-
Lift up rear LH link and install guide shoe
-
Slide pano roof rear LH link back towards rear opening
NoteDon't slide link past rear stop screw
-
Install LH rear cam block
Note2x screws. T25, 5 Nm
-
Install LH rear stop screw
Note1x screw, T20, 6.5 Nm
-
Slide pano roof front LH link back
NoteLine up paint marks at link and pano frame
-
Install LH roof motor connector
Note1x connector
-
Position LH sunroof motor onto motor block
-
Install bolts securing LH roof motor
Note3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts
-
Install amp/tuner bracket assembly back into IP
NoteMake sure tab is above IP otherwise there will be a large gap near bulkhead
-
Install bolts securing tuner bracket
Note3x bolts, 10mm, 6 Nm
-
Reconnect tuner connectors and secure edge clip
Note2x connectors, 1x edge clip
-
Install OBD II male side to bracket
Note2x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm
-
Connect premium amplifier if equipped
Note1x connector, Fully seat connector, then engage locking tab
-
Install LH footwell cover
Note2x screws, T20, 2 Nm, 1x connector
-
Install LH center console carpeted closeout extension
Note6x clips
-
Secure LH front console side panel clips
Note7x clips
-
Install LH lower IP trim
Note1x screw, T20, 2 Nm, 9x clips, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation
-
Install LH lower A-pillar trim
Note4x clips, Number of clips securing A-pillar sill trim may vary depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

Install LH front floor mat
NoteSecure 4x Velcro pads
-
Install LH middle A-pillar trim
-
Install LH IP side cover
Note4x clips, 1x connector

Move panoramic front links into original position

Place sliding glass into position on vehicle
NoteRecommend assistance

Install bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
Note4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts

Connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Newer models will access connector below MCU with cubby removed, Older models will access port at LH side of IP with end cap removedOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle: https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display

Select ‘Actions’ tab and search for ‘Calibrate Sunroof’

Select ‘Calibrate sunroof’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
NoteRoof will fully close, then fully open
-
Fully close sunroof using UI
-
Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and install cubby under MCU
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Ensure diagnostic cables are tucked into appropriate position then engage cubby

Partially open panoramic sunroof
NoteChoose vent option on UI to slightly open panoramic sunroof
-
Install clips onto LH roof applique
NoteApply a small amount of grease in area where clip is going to be installed
-
Position LH roof applique into place
NotePlace tape marks on roof rail aligned with clips
-
Apply primer to frame and applique clips
-
Apply small amounts of urethane to back of clips
-
Install LH roof appliques
NoteAllow urethane to set, Tape front edges down into installation position
-
Remove masking tape from roof rails
-
Operate sliding glass and verify that glass does not shudder while opening or closing
-
Raise all four windows
-
Close all four doors
