Gaskets - Antistatic - Autopilot ECU (Install)

Correction Code 17155301

  • 1076993-00-A Ground/Circuit Tester w/wrist strap Plug
  • 1056154-00-A Anti Static Mat /w Wrist Grounding Cord and Wrist Strap, 20" x 24"

Remove

  1. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  2. Remove the glove box. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  3. Prepare the ESD mat, wrist strap, and ground/circuit tester. Refer to TN-14-92-003 “Electrostatic Discharge Tooling”.

    CAUTION
    Carefully follow the instructions in TN-14-92-003 to avoid damaging the Autopilot ECU.
  4. Without executing any Toolbox routines, remove the Autopilot ECU and place it on the ESD mat. See Module - Autopilot - ECU - 2nd Generation (Remove and Replace).

Install

  1. If not already cut to size, cut the EMI gasket (1656238-00-A or later) into two pieces: one piece 25 mm long and another piece 9 mm long.
  2. Put on the ESD wrist strap.
  3. Carefully install the 9 mm EMI gasket on the RH side of the Autopilot ECU, between the purple electrical connector housing and ECU case.

    Note
    To ensure proper grounding, make sure the gasket makes complete contact with the Autopilot ECU case.
    Tip: Use a pocket screwdriver and/or tweezers to aid in installation.
  4. Carefully install the 25 mm EMI gasket on the RH side of the Autopilot ECU, between the blue and black electrical connector housings and ECU case.

    Tip: Use a pocket screwdriver and/or tweezers to aid in installation.
  5. Remove the ESD wrist strap.
  6. Without updating firmware or executing any Toolbox routines, install the Autopilot ECU. See Module - Autopilot - ECU - 2nd Generation (Remove and Replace).
  7. Install the glove box and RH instrument panel lower assembly. See Glove Box (Remove and Replace).
  8. Reconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
