Foam and Trim - Cushion - Driver's Seat (2nd Generation) (Remove and Replace)

Remove

  1. Remove the driver's seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install) .
  2. Protect the front and side seat trims with fender cover or protective tape.
  3. Release the j-hooks that attach the rear toe kick to the underside of the driver's seat assembly.
  4. Lift the rear lower panel, and then remove the screw that attaches the outer seat trim to the driver's seat assembly.
  5. Release the clips that attach the outer seat trim to the driver's seat assembly, and then separate the trim from the seat.

    CAUTION
    Take care when releasing the front clips, as they can damage the outer seat trim.
  6. Disconnect the seat switch connector from the outer seat trim, and then remove the outer seat trim.
  7. Lift the rear lower panel, and then remove the screw that attaches the inner seat trim to the driver's seat assembly.
  8. Release the clips that attach the inner seat trim to the driver's seat assembly, and then separate the trim from the seat.

    CAUTION
    Take care when releasing the front clips, as they can damage the inner seat trim.
  9. Release the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the inner seat trim, and then remove the inner seat trim.
  10. Release the clips that attach the front seat trim to the driver's seat assembly, and then remove the trim from the seat.
  11. Release the clip that attaches the LH side of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  12. Release the clips that attach the RH side of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  13. Release the j-hooks that attach the rear portion of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  14. Disconnect the seat cushion connectors.
  15. Release the perimeter j-hook that attaches the seat cushion trim to the driver's seat j-hook channel, and then lift the seat cushion trim over the seat cushion foam.

    Start from the rear corner of the seat cushion trim, and then work around the perimeter.

  16. Remove the seat cushion foam and trim from the seat assembly.

Installation

  1. Position the new seat cushion foam and trim on the driver's seat assembly, and then tuck the rear portion of the trim into the into the seat assembly.
  2. Check that the seat cushion harnesses are untangled, routed properly, and that the seat cushion foam is on top of the seat assembly bar.
  3. Fold the seat cushion trim down over the seat cushion foam.

    Make sure to align the seat cushion selvedge with the channel in the driver's seat assembly.
  4. Smooth the wrinkles out of the seat cushion trim, and then attach the seat cushion trim perimeter j-hook to the driver's seat j-hook channel.

  5. Connect the seat cushion connectors.
  6. Install the j-hooks that attach the rear portion of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  7. Install the clips that attach the RH side of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  8. Install the clip that attaches the LH side of the seat cushion trim to the seat assembly.
  9. Install the front seat trim to the driver's seat assembly.
  10. Install the clip that attaches the electrical harness to the inner seat trim.
  11. Install the inner seat trim to the driver's seat assembly.
  12. Lift the rear lower panel and install the screw that attaches the inner seat trim to the driver's seat assembly (torque 2 Nm).
  13. Connect the seat switch connector to the outer seat trim.
  14. Install the outer seat trim to the driver's seat assembly.
  15. Lift the rear lower panel and install the screw that attaches the outer seat trim to the driver's seat assembly (torque 2 Nm).
  16. Install the j-hooks that attach the rear toe kick to the underside of the driver's seat assembly.
  17. Install the driver's seat assembly. See Seat Assembly - 1st Row - LH (Remove and Install) .
  18. Remove any protective tape or fender cover used.
