Light - Brake - High Mounted (Remove and Replace)

Removal

  1. Remove the liftgate glazing (refer to procedure) .
  2. Position the liftgate glazing on a suitable glazing stand.
  3. Note installed position of the Central High Mounted Stop Light (CHMSL).
  4. Using a suitable tool to remove the CHMSL from the liftgate glazing.
    Warning
    To avoid personal injury, eye protection must be worn when performing this operation.
    CAUTION
    Take care not to damage component(s).
  5. Remove the CHMSL.

Installation

  1. Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
    • Note
      Clean the affected areas before installation.
    • If the CHMSL is to be re-used, clean residual sealant from mating face.
    • Clean any residual sealant from the glass.
    • Spirit wipe and thoroughly clean glass that is next to the CHMSL.
    • Make sure that the CHMSL is correctly located.
      1. Print out the CHMSL template. Measure the "1 INCH" box to ensure the printout is properly scaled. See Chimsel Guide.
      2. Cut the templates along the dotted lines, and then attach the templates to the glass using masking tape.
        Note
      3. Remove the protective backings from the tape on the CHMSL.
      4. Install the CHMSL on the glass, ensuring the CHMSL aligns with the templates.
      5. Press onto the CHMSL to adhere it to the glass.
      6. Remove the templates from the glass.
      7. Tape the CHMSL harness to the glass.
        Note
    • Wipe away any excess sealant
    • Apply adhesive tape to keep the CHMSL in position and allow adhesive to cure.
