Sensor - Impact - Door - Front (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.

Removal

  1. Disconnect 12V power See Disconnect 12V Power .
  2. Remove the door trim panel See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install) .
  3. Remove the impact sensor from the door:
    • Vehicles built before February 11, 2019: Remove the screws (x2) that attach the impact sensor to the door (torque 5 Nm), and then disconnect the sensor harness.
    • Vehicles built after February 11, 2019: Depress the locking tab on the impact sensor, and then pull the connector away from the sensor. Rotate the impact sensor clockwise 90 degrees to remove the impact sensor from the door.

Installation

  1. Install the impact sensor:
    • Vehicles built before February 11, 2019: Install the screws (x2) that attach the impact sensor to the door (torque 5 Nm), and then reconnect the harness to the impact sensor.
    • Vehicles built after February 11, 2019: Rotate the impact sensor counter clockwise 90 degrees to secure the impact sensor to the door, and then reconnect the harness to the impact sensor.
  2. Reinstall the door trim panel See Panel - Door Trim - Front - LH (Remove and Install) .
  3. Reconnect 12V power See Disconnect 12V Power .
  4. If the component was replaced due to an internal failure, perform the following steps:
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
    3. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
    4. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
    5. Power cycle the vehicle.
    6. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
    7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
  5. Close the LH front door.
