Removal

  1. Open LH front door
  2. Lower LH front window
  3. Move LH front seat backward
  4. Open hood

  8. Release drainage hoses from HEPA filter inlet duct

  12. Power off vehicle via UI

  21. Remove OBDII connector from tuner bracket

  22. Disconnect premium amplifier if equipped

  23. Release clips securing steering gap hider to IC bezel

  24. Remove screws securing airbag to steering wheel

    2x screws, T25, 7 Nm, The screws will remain inside the steering wheel, If required rotate the steering wheel to gain access to screws, Afterwards return steering wheel to straight and center position
  25. Carefully release the driver's airbag from the steering wheel assembly

    3x connectors, disconnect the airbag and steering wheel controls
  26. Remove bolt that secures the steering wheel to the column

    1x patch bolt, 10mm allen, 80 Nm, Discard after removal
  27. Position the wheels straight ahead and mark the steering wheel relative position to the column
  28. Remove steering wheel
  29. Tape the clockspring cassette to prevent rotation

    Do not rotate the clockspring
  30. Rock SCCM back and forth to release from column
  31. Release harness connector from SCCM and remove SCCM

  32. Disconnect steering column motor connectors

  34. Remove bolt securing lower shaft to steering column

  35. Release steering column from lower shaft

    Slide joint down lower shaft
  36. Remove fasteners securing steering column to cross car beam

  37. Remove steering column from vehicle
  38. Disconnect the brake switch connector

  39. Remove and discard the brake light switch from the brake pedal assembly

    Rotate switch clockwise and pull straight out to remove, The brake light switch is a one time use component
  40. Remove the spring clip from the brake pedal clevis pin

    Depress the brake pedal for clearance
  42. Remove and discard the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the brake booster

  43. Remove the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the reinforcement panel on the bulkhead

  44. Release harness clip from brake pedal bracket

  45. Remove the brake pedal from below the cross car beam

    Rotate the pedal and bracket assembly at different angles to clear the cross car beam and master cylinder push rod, Take care not to damage the boot around the push rod during removal
  46. Release the main harness clip from the bulkhead and move harness away from the tuner

  47. Release the front harness edge clip from the body and move harness away from the tuner

  48. Remove bolts securing tuner bracket

  49. Disconnect tuner and move harness for clearance

Installation

  1. Install the premium amplifier to the Amp/ Tuner Bracket

    4x screws, T30, 4 Nm, Use new bolts
  2. Place the amp/tuner bracket assembly back into IP for installation

    Rotate tuner at different angles to ease installation
  3. Make connections at tuner

    2x electrical connections, 1x fir tree clip, Existing vehicle harness at RH footwell area should have a brown connector for DAB antennae
  4. Install bolts securing tuner bracket

  5. Re-position the front harness and secure edge clip to body

  6. Re-position the main harness and secure harness clips to body

  7. Position the brake pedal assembly for installation

  8. Install the harness clip to the top of the brake pedal bracket

  9. Install the fasteners securing the brake pedal to the reinforcement panel on the bulkhead

  11. Install new brake light switch

    Place brake light switch flush into opening and rotate counter clockwise to install, The brake light switch is a one time use component, Ensure that a new switch is used during installation
  12. Install the brake pedal clevis pin

  13. Install the spring clip to secure the clevis pin

  14. Place steering column into vehicle for installation
  15. Install fasteners securing steering column to cross car beam

  16. Connect steering column to lower steering shaft joint

    Slide joint up onto lower shaft, Ensure that the previously indexed paint marks align between the lower steering column and shaft joint
  17. Install bolt securing lower shaft to steering column

  18. Connect harness connectors for steering column motors

    2x connectors
  19. Connect harness to steering column control module

    1x connector, Install new retaining clip
  20. Slide steering column control module over upper steering column

    Gently jiggle the SCCM while pressing it onto the column if needed
  21. Remove tape previously applied to the clockspring

    Do not rotate the clockspring
  22. Install bolt securing steering wheel to steering column

    1x patch bolt, 10mm allen, 80 Nm, Install new patch bolt
  23. Connect the drivers front airbag and steering wheel control connectors

  24. Place airbag assembly into steering wheel
  25. Install screws securing airbag to steering wheel

  26. Install accelerator pedal

  27. Reconnect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal

  28. Place vehicle in service mode with touchscreen

    Select Controls > Software , Touch and hold "Model" for 2 seconds then release, Use the screen keyboard to type "service" into dialog box and select OK button, Select "X" at upper left corner to exit 'Service Settings' dialogue box
  29. Start Firmware Reinstall from Service UI

  45. Return LH front seat to original position
