E-Fuse Module (2nd Generation) (Remove and Replace)

Removal

This procedure is for vehicles built after April 24, 2019. For vehicles built through April 24, 2019, see E-Fuse Module (1st Generation) (Remove and Replace).
  1. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  2. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  3. Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace).
  4. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  5. Disconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  6. Remove the underhood fusebox. See Fusebox - Underhood - 2nd Generation (Remove and Replace).
  7. Remove the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  8. Remove the wiper motor assembly. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  9. Remove the bolt that attaches the air suspension reservoir to the bracket.
  10. Move the air suspension reservoir aside for access.

    Note
    Maneuver the air compressor reservoir below the A/C line.
  11. Remove the nut that attaches the E-fuse module to the battery coolant heater bracket.
  12. Lift the E-fuse module upwards to release the tabs (x2) that attach it to the battery coolant heater bracket.
  13. Remove the bolt that attaches the 12V cable cover to the E-fuse module, and then remove the cover.
  14. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the 12V power supply cable to the E-fuse module.
  15. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the DCDC positive cable to the E-fuse module.
  16. Remove the bolts (x3) that attach the cover to the E-fuse module.
  17. Release the tab, and then remove the cover from the E-fuse module.
  18. Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that attach the large cables to the bottom of the E-fuse module.
    Tip: Note the location of the cables to ease the installation process.
  19. Remove the screw that attaches the smaller cable to the bottom of the E-fuse module.
  20. Release the red locking tab, and then disconnect the logic electrical connector from the E-fuse module.
  21. Use a small flat head screwdriver to gently pry on the end of the RH side cover to release the cover from the E-fuse module.
  22. Notice the location of each cable connected to the side of the E-fuse module by wire color prior to removal of the cables, and then remove the screws (x6) that attach the cables to the module.
  23. Remove and discard the bolt that attaches the ground cable to the E-fuse module, and then remove the E-fuse module from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. Position the E-fuse module into the vehicle.
  2. Put each cable into the correct location on the side of the E-fuse module, and then install the screws (x6) that attach the cables to the module (torque 4 Nm).
  3. Install the cover onto the RH side of the E-fuse module by aligning the cable cutouts, and then press the cover until an audible click is heard.
  4. Install new patch bolt that attaches the ground cable to the E-fuse module (torque 4 Nm).
  5. Connect the logic electrical connector to the E-fuse module, and then secure it with the red locking tab.
  6. Install the screw that attaches the smaller cable to the bottom of the E-fuse module (torque 5 Nm).

    Make sure to install the cable in the correct position as shown.
  7. Install new patch bolts (x2) that attach the large cables to the bottom of the E-fuse module (torque 5 Nm).

  8. Install the cover onto the E-fuse module and secure it with tab.
  9. Install the bolts (x3) that attach the cover to the E-fuse module (torque 2.7 Nm).
  10. Install new patch bolt that attaches the DCDC positive cable to the E-fuse module (torque 5 Nm).
  11. Install new patch bolt that attaches the 12V power supply cable to the E-fuse module (torque 7 Nm).
  12. Position the E-fuse module so that the tabs (x2) align with the battery coolant heater bracket, and then slide the module downwards until the tabs engage with the bracket.
  13. Install the nut that attaches the E-fuse module to the battery coolant heater bracket (torque 7 Nm).
  14. Position the cover, and then install the bolt that attaches the 12V cable cover to the E-fuse module (torque 3.5 Nm).
  15. Position the air suspension reservoir into position.
  16. Install the screw that attaches the air suspension reservoir to the bracket (torque 2.5 Nm).
  17. Install the wiper motor assembly. See Wiper Module (Remove and Replace).
  18. Install the cowl screen panel. See Panel - Cowl Screen (Remove and Replace).
  19. Install the underhood fusebox. See Fusebox - Underhood - 2nd Generation (Remove and Replace).
  20. Reconnect 12V power. See Disconnect 12V Power.
  21. Install the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace).
  22. Install the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace).
  23. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace).
  24. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace).
  25. Update the vehicle firmware. See Firmware Update.
