Open RH front door
-
Lower RH front window
-
Fully open sliding glass
NoteNeed to press "Open" twice to fully open
-
Remove bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
Note4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard patch bolts
-
Remove sliding glass from vehicle
NoteRecommend assistance
-
Gently lift up the rear section of RH side roof applique to release clips and remove RH roof applique
Note6x clips, Place applique in a safe area to avoid damage
-
Add a mark to underside of RH applique to indicate that it has been removed
NoteThe 2nd generation side applique can only be removed and reinstalled 10 times before it must be replaced due to damage to the clips, If there are already 9 or more marks on the underside of the applique, replace it

Move panoramic sliding glass front links fully forward
NotePull links forward with hooked pick

Moving panoramic slide glass rear links fully forward through MCU

Open glove box
NoteRelease button on RH side of MCU bezel
-
Remove RH instrument panel lower assembly
Note13x clips

Remove glove box lower trim
Note6x clips
-
Remove glove box from IP carrier
Note6x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm, 3x connectors
-
Remove RH IP side cover
Note3x clips, 1x connector
-
Remove RH middle A-pillar trim
-
Open hood
NoteVia Controls > Front Trunk
-
Power off vehicle via UI
NoteVia Controls > Safety > Power Off

Remove rear underhood apron
Note8x clips

Remove LH underhood apron
Note9x clips, (*Use this step for Model S Refresh procedures)

Remove RH underhood apron
Note9x clips

Release primary and secondary drain tubes from cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses
-
Release cabin intake duct assembly from cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Remove cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x clips, one on each side
-
Remove HEPA filter outlet duct
NoteLift up, Pull towards front of vehicle, Then rotate clockwise
-
Disconnect 12V negative terminal and First Responder Loop
Note1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, 1x connector, Wait at least 2 minutes before disconnecting modules or HV components
-
Remove bolts securing RH roof motor
Note3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Discard after removal

Separate RH roof motor from motor block
-
Remove RH stop screw
Note1x screw, T30, 6.5 Nm, 1x stop bracket
-
Remove RH rear link
NotePull link rearward, You may need to use a bigger hook and pull more aggressively
-
Remove RH panoramic roof drive cable
NoteCable my get stuck where stop screw was installed, Apply good amount of force to remove
-
Install RH panoramic roof drive cable
NoteLeave enough slack to install link
-
Install RH rear link
NoteConnect cable to link
-
Install RH stop screw
Note1x screw, T30, 6 Nm
-
Position RH roof motor onto motor block
-
Install bolts securing RH roof motor onto motor block
Note3x patch bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts
-
Connect First Responder Loop and 12V negative terminal
Note1x connector, 1x nut, 10mm, 5 Nm, Connect First Responder Loop first

Install HEPA filter outlet duct
-
Install cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x tabs, One on each side
-
Install cabin intake duct assembly to cowl panel
Note3x push clips
-
Install primary and secondary drain tubes to cabin intake duct assembly
Note2x hoses
-
Install LH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install RH underhood apron
Note9x clips
-
Install rear underhood apron
Note8x clips
-
Close hood
NotePress firmly in green highlighted areas (see image), Damage may result from pressure elsewhere on hood
-
Install glove box into vehicle
Note3x connectors, 6x screws, T20, 2.3 Nm
-
Install RH instrument panel lower assembly
Note13x clips

Install lower glove box trim panel
Note6x clips, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to installation

Install RH lower A-pillar trim
Note4x clips, The number of clips securing the a pillar sill trim varies depending on vehicle production date, Replace any damaged or missing clips prior to re-installing sill trim

Install RH IP side cover
Note3x clips, 1x connector

Move panoramic rear links into original position
-
Move panoramic front links into original position

Place sliding glass into position on vehicle

Install bolts securing sliding glass to vehicle
Note4x bolts, T25, 5 Nm, Install new patch bolts

Connect laptop to vehicle with a tethered Ethernet connection via Toolbox 3
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Newer models will access connector below MCU with cubby removed, Older models will access port at LH side of IP with end cap removedOpen Toolbox 3 website and establish connection to vehicle: https://toolbox.teslamotors.com, Select connection status icon at top right corner and select Connect Locally (icon will turn green when vehicle is connected), Local connection will enable service mode plus on display

Select ‘Actions’ tab and search for ‘Calibrate Sunroof’

Select ‘Calibrate sunroof’, click ‘Run’, and allow routine to complete
NoteRoof will fully close, then fully open
-
Disconnect Toolbox from vehicle and install cubby under MCU
Note1x connector, 2x clips, Ensure diagnostic cables are tucked into appropriate position then engage cubby

Operate sliding glass and verify that glass does not shudder while opening or closing
-
Raise RH front window
-
Close RH front door
