Seat Belt Assembly - 2nd Row - Center (Remove and Replace)

Note
In the event of an airbag or seat belt tensioner deployment, certain airbag and seat belt components must be replaced, and other components must be inspected for damage. Refer to SRS Inspection and Component Replacement for a specific list of items that must be inspected and replaced.

Removal

  1. Remove the LH 2nd row back rest assembly (refer to procedure).
  2. Release the seat belt guide trim from the top of the back rest.
  3. Remove the back rest latch cover.
  4. Remove the pivot assembly from the back rest.
  5. Unzip the back rest upholstery.
  6. Gently slide the upholstery over the pivot points.
  7. Gently release the upholstery from the clips on the latch assembly.
  8. Gently separate the back rest frame from the seat cushion and upholstery.
  9. Remove the inner seatbelt guard from the top of the back rest.
  10. Remove the bolt that secures the seatbelt reel to the seat frame (torque 40 Nm).
  11. Remove the center seat belt assembly.

Installation

Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:

Replace any broken clips.

Replace all patchbolt(s).
If the component was replaced due to an internal failure:
  1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
  2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
  3. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
  4. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
  5. Power cycle the vehicle.
  6. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
  7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
