Sensor - Shotgun Accelerometer - LH (Remove and Replace)

Correction Code 20201152

Removal

  1. Open the hood.
  2. Remove the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  3. Remove the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  4. Remove the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace) .
  5. Remove the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Disconnect the First Responder Loop and 12V battery negative terminal.

    Note
    Proceed to the next step only when the First Responder Loop has been disconnected for at least 2 minutes.
  7. Release the locking tab, and then disconnect the electrical connector from the LH shotgun accelerometer sensor.
  8. Remove and discard the nut that attaches the LH shotgun accelerometer sensor to the LH fender, and then remove the sensor from the vehicle.

Installation

  1. Position the new LH shotgun accelerometer sensor on the LH fender, and then install a new nut that attaches the sensor to the fender (torque 10 Nm).
  2. Connect the electrical connector to the LH shotgun accelerometer sensor.

    Note
    Make sure that the connector is fully seated and that the locking tab is engaged.
  3. Reconnect the First Responder Loop.
  4. Reconnect the 12V battery negative terminal (torque 5 Nm).
  5. Install the HEPA filter outlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Outlet (Remove and Replace) .
  6. Install the HEPA filter inlet duct. See Duct - HEPA Filter - Inlet (Remove and Replace) .
  7. Install the LH and RH underhood aprons. See Underhood Apron - LH (Remove and Replace) .
  8. Install the rear underhood apron. See Underhood Apron - Rear (Remove and Replace) .
  9. If the component was replaced due to an internal failure, perform the following steps:
    1. Connect a laptop with Toolbox 3 to the vehicle.
    2. Unlock the vehicle gateway. See Gateway Unlock.
    3. In Toolbox 3, click Dashboards > Service Tools > DTCs, and then select SDM or RCM depending on the vehicle Restraint Control Type.
    4. Click Read DTCs to display the DTCs.
    5. Power cycle the vehicle.
    6. Click Clear DTCs to clear the DTCs.
    7. Disconnect Toolbox and remove the laptop from the vehicle.
