Brake Caliper - Rear - Park Brake - LH (Remove and Replace)

Removal

Put the parking brake in Service Mode. Perform the following
routine using Service Mode or Toolbox (see 0005 - Service Modes):PROC_EPB_X_SERVICE-MODEvia Toolbox: (link)via Service Mode:
- Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ EPB Service Mode
- Chassis ➜ Brakes ➜ EPB Service Mode
NoteIn the event of a stuck caliper or motor failure, refer to one of these procedures to release the caliper: - Remove the LH rear wheel (refer to procedure).
- If the new caliper does not have brake pads: Remove the brake pads from the caliper (refer to procedure).
- Disconnect the electric parking brake caliper harness connector.
- Remove and discard the bolts (x2) that secure the caliper to the knuckle (torque 57 Nm).
- Remove the parking brake caliper.
Installation
Installation procedure is the reverse of removal, except for the following:
- Use a M10 x 1.5 tap to clean the mounting holes in the knuckle.
- Clean the affected areas before installation.
- Apply an even layer of Silaramic lubricant (1063021-00-A) to the caliper pad slides. Remove any excess lubricant.
- After connecting the electric parking brake caliper harness, wrap the connector seam with electrical tape to prevent dirt ingress.
- Burnish the parking brake pads. See Brake Pads - Park Brake - Burnishing.
